Becoming a Member
There are several milestones in the journey of belonging. The first and most important decision is to participate regularly in Sunday morning worship, our primary act as a Christian community as we gather to pray, learn and gain support from one another. Many people attend Trinity regularly for a year before taking steps to join the parish; others jump right in. Whatever your pace, we are happy to share our worship life with you in this initial period of exploration.
When you begin to feel at home, another step of belonging is to participate in some way in the life and mission of the church. It may mean attending an education program, helping at coffee hour or joining a ministry team. Engaging in this way is an excellent way to explore your interests and to meet members of the congregation.
Once you feel ready, there are some official steps to membership at Trinity Church:
- Attend a
membership
class - This class is an opportunity to meet the clergy and leaders of the parish and other people exploring membership.
- Be officially
welcomed - After each New Member Class, the congregation officially welcomes its new members with a special prayer and liturgy during its Sunday morning service. We also include pictures and short biographies of new members in that Sunday’s bulletin.
- Support the
church - We ask our members to make a financial contribution to the church and to support its ministry through prayer and participation. It is one way we express gratitude to God for the blessings of our lives.
- Connect with
a host family - Once you are a member of Trinity Church, our Newcomer Ministry Team will offer to pair you with a host family. The host family agrees to stay close to you and your family for one year, introducing you to members of the congregation and assisting you in connecting to ministries of interest. The host family program is designed to invite you more fully into the life of the church. For questions please contact the This email address is being protected from spambots.
